Shauna Anderson

President & CEO

Shauna has served teachers as an administrator at a personalized learning public charter school in California for over 15 years. Before that, she lived in Vermont and taught high school English. 
She graduated from the University of Vermont with a BA in English. She has a California Multiple Subject Teaching Credential, CLAD Certificate (Cross-cultural Language and Academic Development), and Single Subject High School English and Social Sciences Teaching Credential. Shauna and her husband homeschool their 6 kids in the greater Sacramento area and run a small organic vineyard in the Sierra Foothills, making boutique wine as a family. She is a passionate advocate for parental choice in education, and she loves to explore the idea of disrupting by offering parents options and solutions to the one-size-fits-all educational system. She believes will change the way we educate our children for the future by being THE marketplace for alternatives in education.  

Barry Hinckley

Director of Corporate and Finance

Barry has been creating community platforms and online marketplaces since the mid-1990s. He cofounded Bullhorn, Inc. in 1999 and today it is the global leader in staffing and recruiting software, with 1,000 employees around the world. Barry is now the CEO and founder of Yotme, a CRM for non-profits and brands that have an event strategy. As a technical cofounder and entrepreneur who cares deeply about education transformation and expanding learning

options, Barry views as an in-demand platform to help families opt-out

of their assigned district school.

Dave Miranda

Director of Marketing

For over 25 years, Dave has been a creative leader and change agent, developing

marketing strategies that have helped global brands create or strengthen their

presence in a wide array of markets. Since 2005, Dave has been the Founder and

Executive Creative Director at Vision Brand Experiences, partnering with clients such

as Abiomed, American Meteorological Society, Berklee College of Music, John

Hancock Insurance, PerkinElmer, Pittsburgh Steelers, SAP, and Southern New

Hampshire University, to name a few. Dave was also a Partner and Chief Creative

Officer at the software startup Story+Structure where he led the firm’s marketing

and brand strategy. He also played a key role in the product development and go-to-

market strategy of Caramel, a mobile recruiting app developed for higher education

but later adapted for other markets. He and his wife, Shannon, are active

homeschool parents in the Boston area.

Demitry Toumilovich

Director of Engineering

Demitry has been a Rails developer for over 8 years, but likes to stay technology agnostic to solve problems with the right tools. He's excited to use his knowledge and experience to help improve American education with the marketplace. Demitry loves big ideas, creative problem-solving, and changing the world through technology.

Neil Marcaccio

Director of Curriculum and Instruction

Neil is an experienced public school administrator whose original path in marine research morphed into a career in education centered around meeting the needs of diverse learners. As a NISL EDP trained educational leader, he has been focused on work in the deeper learning competencies, systems thinking, and globally relevant curriculum development. Neil is passionate about increasing access to non-traditional learning paths. 

Monica Mancuso

Director of Sales and Strategic Partnerships

With her background in Interior Architecture and Design, Monica has always been interested in personalizing and improving user experiences by deeply understanding individual and cooperative perspectives. In her tenure as Director of Outside Sales for a Boston-based multinational furniture importer, she honed critical skills in networking and strategic partnerships. Unschooling parents of two beautiful daughters, Monica and her husband have been intimately involved in two innovative microschool communities in the Greater Boston area over the past seven years. She is thrilled to be bringing her energy to Unschool.School, a platform she believes has the power to liberate education and quite possibly change the world.

Kerry McDonald

Senior Advisor

Kerry is a recognized leader in catalyzing education innovation and promoting alternatives to school. The author of Unschooled: Raising Curious, Well-Educated Children Outside the Conventional Classroom (Chicago Review Press, 2019), she is a regular Forbes contributor spotlighting experimental learning models beyond traditional schooling. Her articles have appeared at The Wall Street Journal, NPR, Newsweek, Reason Magazine, Entrepreneur, and Education Next, among others. A mom of four unschooled children, Kerry has a B.A. in economics from Bowdoin College and a Master’s degree in education policy from Harvard University.
